A number of extraordinary natural phenomena have left their mark on Baie-Comeau and the surrounding area: An asteroid violently struck the earth and created the Manicouagan crater, glaciation and the retreat of the glaciers shaped and modeled the area’s landscape, and thousands of years ago, people inhabited the area in the Ice Age. Aboriginal communities have lived there, and Innu nations traded with the Europeans who settled there.
